Stacked Stone Tiles: The Suggested Wall Décor Solution

Long gone are the days when homes merely served for a shelter, the place to reside in staying away from predators, and the unpleasant weather conditions – homes are as much about beauty nowadays, as they are about being a safe haven. Out of the many decorating ideas, and makeover suggestions, I can’t emphasise stacked stone tiles enough.

Let’s be honest, we don’t usually give walls precedence when it comes to decorating, and it’s high time we changed that; ordinary walls are a thing of the past. Walls take up a huge amount of our homes, which gives them the right to get the attention they deserve, and the reason I stick with stacked stone tiles is because they are affordable, they come in different styles (e.g. modern, or rugged), give the ambiance a natural rustic feeling, and are easy to install so they make the perfect DIY project.

When giving the DIY project a thought, remember to prepare a solid base, followed by gravel, behind the wall drainage, the right set of tools (levels, shovels, hammers, tampers, brushes), and of course, the patience and will to get to know the techniques meticulously.

What makes me love this wall decorating solution all the more is it can be added on interior walls, as much as with exterior, and even with fireplaces. Stacked stone is timeless, gives off that warm feeling, and can provide your home with the needed degree of sophistication, and a bit of change in colour to change the dynamics of your surroundings. Same as is the case with the chandelier, stacked stone is the way to add instant luxurious, expensive look to your home, without breaking your bank.

stacked-stone-tiles Apart from being easy to install, saving you the effort, time, and money on installer fees, stacked stone is natural which means you can count on durability that is made to stand the test of time, with little to no maintenance required even when used with exterior walls. Given that there’s no need for patching up with mortar, you can rest assured when used outside, stacked stone wouldn’t get affected by frost heave, as it doesn’t retain moisture or ice.

Come to think of it, stacked stone walls have a rather emotional cultural value considering they’re based on techniques used throughout centuries. There’s more to that value particularly if you build up the walls yourself, and get to proudly admire your work time and time again. This is the wall décor that never goes out of style.
