The Suggested CPAP devices

CPAP device

Obstructive sleep apnea is characterized by upper airway blockages during sleep. This can be caused by an abnormal growth in the collapsibility of the upper airway, which can be a result of obesity and anatomical alteration. At the moment, the CPAP therapy is the most efficient treatment for those who suffer from sleep apnea. The CPAP devices produce a continuous positive pressure by stimulating the upper airway muscular receptors. The possible side effect of using the CPAP devices is skin erosion.

Some people don’t feel comfortable when wearing the CPAP mask due to claustrophobia. However, the treatment should be continued because there manypositive effects, such as lower daytime sleepiness. Using CPAP devices helps patients who are diagnosed with severe sleep apnea syndrome. These devices reduce the high blood pressure and eliminate the daytime sleepiness. Depending on the condition of the patient, there are many different devices used for this sleeping disorder. Here are the three basic types of CPAP devices.

CPAP Machines – These are the basic machines for the CPAP treatment. They deliver continuous amount of air pressure through a CPAP mask, measured in cm/H2O or centimeters of water pressure. This air pressure produced by the CPAP machine pushes back the soft palette and keeps the airway open. The CPAP machines are quite effective for people with sleep apnea problems. Different machines have different abilities and features. There are many suppliers who offer CPAP machines online, but before you purchase one, make sure you talk to your doctor first.

APAP Machines – These devices are also know as Auto CPAP machines. Titration is defined as operation, a method or process for determining the concentration of the substance by adding a standard reagent. This is a process of determining the right amount of air pressure a person needs for efficient CPAP therapy. The APAP machines have the capability to ‘titrate’ the air pressure during the sleep. An Auto CPAP device is a luxury, but it is quite useful and effective for those who suffer from sleep apnea. The APAP machines usually have the capability to record the data which can later be examined by your doctor in order to see the progress of the treatment.

BIPAP Machines – These machines provide bi-level positive airway pressure that keeps the upper airway open. The BIPAP machines provide a flow of air through a mask. These machines work with two air pressures: a higher pressure used when inhaling and a lower used when exhaling. BIPAP machines are very popular for COPD patients.
