Suggested Refrigerated Trailer Temperature Settings

Refrigerated-Semi-Trailers

The refrigerated trailer is a type of trailer that is used for transportation of temperature-sensitive goods. Made from heavy-duty components, this trailer can transport all kinds of goods and materials from one place to another. The refrigerated trailer can be loaded and unloaded with a pallet truck or even with a forklift truck. For keeping the goods and supplies at constant temperature, the refrigerated trailer is equipped with a special cooling system. The temperature inside the refrigerated trailers can be controlled and adjusted depending on the goods that need to be transported. In fact, the temperature is the most important factor that can affect the delivery. In order to keep the products fresh and in good condition until they reach the final destination, the operators of the refrigerated trailers need to understand the temperature settings and to learn how to adjust and set the required temperature.

There are two types of refrigerated trailers temperature settings: continuous and cycle-sentry. Most commonly, the trailers transport the products with continuous temperature settings. For transportation of fruits and vegetables, the continuous temperature settings are the best choice, because these products need a continuous air flow during the transportation process. Continuous air flow is required for keeping a constant temperature in the refrigerated trailer until the products reach the final destination.

When adjusted to continuous settings, the refrigerated trailers have a defrost cycle with factory set intervals on 5-6 hours to prevent ice or frost build up on the coil. However, the trailers may require more frequent defrost cycles if the doors need to be opened multiple times in a single day.

The cycle-sentry settings are used for frozen products, or products that need to be shipped cold. That’s because the frozen products can handle temperature changes without any problems. The refrigerated trailers with cycle-sentry settings have a so-called “set point”, which allows the operators to manually set the required temperature and to keep this temperature constantly like with the continuous settings. The only benefit from this temperature settings is the large fuel savings.

That’s it. Now when you know that the best refrigerated trailer temperature settings is the continuous, you should always run your refrigerated trailer on continuous settings. You should also keep in mind that for some specific products this temperature settings is industry required.
